May Weather in Amed: A Closer Look

May is consistently one of Amed's finest months for underwater activity. Rainfall is minimal at 30 mm over 3 days, humidity drops to 70%, and temperatures cool very slightly from April to a more comfortable 33Β°C. The sea is glassy calm in the mornings and underwater visibility at the USAT Liberty wreck in Tulamben consistently reaches 20 metres or better, with occasional days exceeding 25 metres. May is ideal for newly qualified divers wanting to log experience in gentle conditions β€” the Tulamben wall dive and the Drop-Off site offer dramatic underwater topography in perfect visibility. Snorkeling at Jemeluk bay is superb, with the coral garden's fish population at its most active in the pre-monsoon water temperature of 28–29Β°C. The Coral Garden site off Amed's main beach is also excellent in May. Amed's village atmosphere is lovely in this period β€” local fishermen are active, the salt-farming process is underway on the beach, and dive operators are busy but not overwhelmed. Day trips to Pura Lempuyang with its famous split gate are manageable from Amed. Accommodation prices are still at moderate shoulder-season levels.
