Amed Weather in March

March sees Amed's dry season beginning to reassert itself. Rainfall drops to around 100 mm over 10 days — a meaningful reduction from February — and underwater visibility starts to improve noticeably. Temperatures climb to 33°C at peak, making it feel hotter than the dry season months, but brief showers provide relief. Humidity eases to 75%. Diving at the USAT Liberty wreck in Tulamben improves through the month; by late March visibility is often 12–18 metres and the bumphead parrotfish school that frequents the wreck's shallow section is reliable in the early morning. The Japanese Shipwreck in Amed bay is a gentler alternative — shallower and calmer, ideal for first-time wreck divers and snorkelers who want to peek at the rusting hull. March's defining cultural event is Nyepi — the Balinese Day of Silence, typically falling in March. The night before Nyepi, Ogoh-Ogoh processions occur in the villages around Amed and in Amlapura. These north and east Bali processions are less commercialised than those in the south, offering a more authentic glimpse of this unique tradition.
