Lovina Weather in May

May is one of Lovina's finest months — the dry season is firmly established, rainfall averages only 50 mm over about 5 days, and the Bali Sea is at its calmest and most transparent before the trade wind season properly kicks in. Daytime temperatures hold at 32°C with humidity dropping to 73%, making it feel comfortably warm rather than oppressive. Underwater visibility at the Lovina reef and nearby sites can exceed 20 metres on good days. The resident spinner dolphin pods are reliably sighted on almost every sunrise tour, and the calm conditions mean longer boat sessions are comfortable. May also offers excellent access to the lesser-visited dive sites off Pemuteran, roughly 45 minutes west of Lovina, where the biorock reef restoration project hosts impressive coral gardens and diverse fish populations. Inland, the highland roads to Munduk and Bedugul are dry and pleasant for cycling or scooter touring. Visitor numbers in Lovina are still well below the July–August peak, giving the area an uncrowded, relaxed feel that many travellers find preferable to the busy south. Accommodation prices remain at mid-range shoulder season levels without the premium of July. May is also when the papaya, mango, and rambutan harvests begin — local fruit markets overflow with produce at minimal cost.
