Canggu Weather in October

October is Canggu's transition month and it shows in the surf. The reliable southeast swell that powered Echo Beach and Old Man's through the dry season begins to weaken and shift — some days deliver fun 3–5 foot conditions that are perfectly rideable, others produce messy, unpredictable sets as the first westerly storm patterns begin to exert influence. Afternoon thunderstorms start occurring with increasing regularity from mid-October, building dramatically over the mountains and rolling across the coast. Despite this, the first two weeks of October are often still very pleasant — warm, mostly sunny mornings with afternoon clouds that add drama to the sky without always delivering rain. The resort is quiet and affordable: villa prices sit at some of their lowest points of the year, restaurant tables are always available, and the digital nomad community is in full occupation of Canggu's co-working spaces. The Galungan festival sometimes falls in October depending on the Balinese calendar, adding cultural colour to what would otherwise be a low-key transition period.
