March Weather in Canggu: A Closer Look
March is Canggu's transition month β the wet season is clearly winding down but it hasn't fully released its grip, delivering rain on around 20 days. Towards the end of March, keen-eyed surfers begin noticing the first signs of the dry season south swell: cleaner faces at Echo Beach, offshore morning winds returning, the lineup at Old Man's starting to work consistently. The major cultural event of the month is Nyepi (Day of Silence), falling on March 19 in 2026. The Ogoh-Ogoh parade the evening before transforms Canggu's streets β enormous demon effigies are carried by local banjar groups to the crash of drums and gamelan, and the village feel of Canggu is very much on display. On Nyepi itself, even the beaches and surf breaks are off-limits β the Hindu equivalent of a total island reset. March remains affordable and low-key, making it an excellent choice for anyone who wants to catch Bali's most significant cultural event while prices are still at wet-season lows.
