Denpasar Weather in December

December brings Denpasar's second wettest period of the year — 276mm across 22 days — as the northwest monsoon establishes itself fully. Temperatures hold at 30°C highs and 24°C lows with humidity at 83%. Sea temperatures are the warmest of the year at around 29–30°C, making beach swimming genuinely inviting despite the weather. The UV index is 7. December is a paradox in Bali: the worst weather month also coincides with the busiest and most expensive holiday period. Christmas and New Year bring a massive influx of international visitors from Australia, Europe, and North America. Denpasar's southern resort corridor runs at peak capacity from December 20 onwards. Rain arrives in heavy afternoon and evening squalls, often dramatically theatrical with lightning storms over the ocean, but mornings frequently stay dry enough for beach time. The Melasti ceremony in late December sees mass processions towards the beaches around Denpasar and Sanur.
