Which island near Bali is best for a first short trip?

Can I visit Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan in one day?
Combining both usually spends too much of a short day on check-in, boats and local transfers. Choose one island and a limited route, then confirm the current operator, harbour and return margin.
Should I take a Bali island day trip or stay overnight?
